There are four basic types of fire resistant ductwork:
Our HVAC Fire Paint comes as a single pack product. It is a very Versatile Product which could be painted directly onto the GI or Black Steel ductwork at the fabrication yard or at the construction premise. No primer or top-coat is required. The product is even suitable for exposed areas (like car parks).
As always, the Fire Ductwork should be manufactured a per DW144 standard.
The HVAC Fire Paint / Board would be in place as long as the ductwork system is in place. However it would be prudent to carry out minimum maintenance once in 10 years. Just one coat of HVAC Fire Paint would do the needed maintanence at nominal cost.
The HVAC Fire Paint could be applied to a thickness of 0.7mm to provide 2Hrs Fire Resistance.
Hence it is legally mandatory to compartmentalize Ductwork system so that in the event of a fire accident, the fire & smoke could be efficiently prevented from entering the ductwork.
Also known as Cementitious or Vermiculite FirestoppingSpray protection is extensively used across the world, mostly owning to it being the cheapest method for Fire Stop Fire Protection. It has the advantage that it can be used to cover complex shapes and details and also that costs do not increase significantly with increases in protection thickness. This is because much of the cost of application is in the labour and equipment and a minority is in the cost of the material. Some materials can also be used in external and hydrocarbon fire applications.
This is only a helping guideline.
