Vermiculite Fireproofing is the most widely used method for STEEL Fire Protection. It is also the cheapest of all options. The sprayed textured finish is not very aesthetically pleasing; though a POP level of finish is attainable with much effort. However for areas which are going under false ceilings, Vermiculite Fireproofing is the recommended solution.
Intumescent Fire Proofing Paint gives the Best Aesthetical finish to Steel Structures. It is a thin-film paint and hence would retain the countours and architectural stylings of the Steel Member. The final top-coat can be applied in any colour; even metallic. This is the prefered method for STEEL Fire Protection for exposed areas; being the fastest and light weight.
Fire Boards are used to enclose Steel Members in a box thus making them Fire Rated. It is a very convenient method, especially for a building already under occupation. Fire Boards could be installed with least disturbance to the other services. However, all the Steel Members needs to be properly accessible to install the Fire Boards without any gaps.
Also known as Cementitious or Vermiculite FireproofingSpray protection is extensively used across the world, mostly owning to it being the cheapest method for Steel Fire Protection. It has the advantage that it can be used to cover complex shapes and details and also that costs do not increase significantly with increases in protection thickness. This is because much of the cost of application is in the labour and equipment and a minority is in the cost of the material. Some materials can also be used in external and hydrocarbon fire applications.
This is only a helping guideline.
